Instructions

1. Before class prepare 3 handouts. Download the Word document in a ready-to-use format by clicking on the "Download Word Version" link.
   
   
2. Brainstorm with students a list of personality traits, both positive and negative. Write these on the blackboard.
   
   
3. Using this vocabulary, have students complete Handout 1, fillingin information about their personality, defects, career interests, and three other people who are most like them. Explain some of the vocabulary that they may not understand, i.e. oficio is the same as profesión.
   
   
4. Hand out the zodiac worksheet (Handout 2). Review vocabulary as needed, giving examples in Spanish. Try to think of some people who represent each personality trait. Give examples of the vocabulary in Spanish.
   
   
5. Talk about the current year and what animal corresponds to it on the Chinese zodiac. Tell them what your year of birth is. Ask them if they think that the traits favor you: ¿Me corresponde bien la descripción?
   
   
6. Have students find their birth year in Handout 2 and compare what it says with their self description.
   
   
7. Hand out the composition worksheet (Handout 3). Have students fillin the guided composition about themselves.

Notes

Review with the students how to say the year (mil novecientos ochenta y tres, dos mil cuatro, etc.).
