Computerized Assessments of Proficiency (CAP)
Teachers demand quality in their classroom, and CASLS works to meet those standards as we create assessments to benefit language programs and increase student outcomes. Our assessments (STAMP and NOELLA) undergo a rigorous testing phase known as a pilot. Tests in this developmental stage are known as Computerized Assessments of Proficiency (CAP). After the pilot concludes, CASLS' partner company Avant Assessment may provide the assessment to schools and districts at an affordable cost.
Benefits of Participating in a CAP Pilot
To learn which languages and proficiency levels are available for pilot, visit our NOELLA pilot site (for grades 3 through 6) or our CAP pilot site (for grades 7 through 16). This screencast quickly demonstrates the registration process, and our frequently asked questions page addresses common questions. Those interested in the details of CASLS' test development can download the CAP test and task specification documents. The following grants and partnering institutions sponsor assessment development: Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), Institute of International Education, The Language Flagship (funded through the National Security Education Program), New York University, University of Chicago, University of Hawaii, University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin, and U.S. Department of Education Title VI.
