Oregon Roadmap to Language Excellence
As educators, we want our students to succeed in college and in the job market. CASLS convened a forum of leaders in education, business, and government to determine the skills language learners need to become successful. Members of these sectors shared their perspectives and identified ways to work together to shape foreign language learning. The resulting action plan, known as the Oregon Roadmap to Language Excellence, proposes incentive-based initiatives to reward students who demonstrate proficiency and to support educational institutions helping students become proficient.

The Departments of Commerce, Defense, and Labor launched the 2007 U.S. Language Summits: Roadmap to Language Excellence. The Language Flagship, through the National Security Education Program, coordinates the language roadmaps at the national level.
