Martyn Clark, Assessment Director
Martyn Clark holds a Ph.D. in second language acquisition with a specialization in language assessment from the University of Hawaii.
Clark joined CASLS in 2006 and led the development of the STAMP 2.0 framework.
Clark has taught a variety of teacher development classes and introductory testing classes.
He is co-editor, along with Thom Hudson, of a book of case studies in placement testing for less commonly taught language programs.
In the past, Clark served as a reviewer for Applied Linguistics and Language Testing. |

Colin Crocker, Policy and Research Analyst
Colin Crocker holds a master of public administration with a focus on public policy in developing countries.
Prior to joining CASLS, he served as a cultural liaison assistant for the Institute for Policy Research and Innovation and as a consultant for Help Alleviate Poverty in Africa.
Colin now leads the national movement of Roadmaps to Language Excellence, having been instrumental in the success of the Oregon Roadmap since its inception in 2007. |

Carl Falsgraf, Director
Carl Falsgraf earned his Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Oregon.
Prior to founding CASLS, he taught Japanese in the U.S. and English as a second language in Japan.
Carl has presented and published widely on second language acquisition, foreign language education, and language assessment.
Falsgraf has spearheaded the development and implementation of standards, assessments, and curricula in a variety of K-16 settings.
He now oversees both CASLS and the Oregon Chinese Flagship Program. |

Linda Forrest, Research Director
Linda Forrest received her Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Oregon.
She has served as research director since 2005 and worked for the center as a data analyst for five years prior.
She has also taught linguistics courses and developed an Internet course on the structure of English words.
Linda leads the center's research on second language acquisition and assessment. |

Laurence Gellert, Software Architect
Laurence Gellert holds a B.S. in economics from the University of Oregon and a B.S. in computer information science from Columbia Southern University.
He joined CASLS in 2001 and has over ten years' experience building software programs.
Laurence has designed computer-adaptive test engines for STAMP and NOELLA in addition to other technology-based services offered by CASLS. |

Amy Harter, Chinese Flagship Coordinator
Amy Harter received her M.A. in international human resources and a project management certificate from Nagoya University in Japan.
She served as the human resources manager for Shelter Care, a nonprofit social services organization, before joining CASLS in 2005.
This background prepared Amy to oversee the multiple tenets of the Oregon Chinese Flagship Program.
She now coordinates the University of Oregon Chinese Flagship, which includes recruiting students, managing grant activities, and working with departments on campus. |

Rita Healey, Office Specialist
Rita Healey holds a B.A. in Spanish from Marquette University.
She has over nineteen years' experience in office management, most notably at Diablo Valley College in California and Fountain Hills High School in Arizona.
Rita joined CASLS in 2008 as an office specialist where she assists the director, completes accounts payable processes, and helps staff members with travel and event coordination. |

Charles Hollands, Technology Director
Charles Hollands holds an associate's degree in computer networking operations from Lane Community College.
He joined CASLS in 2006 as the technology director.
Charles manages IT staff and operations, oversees the development of programming projects, manages servers, and provides support to staff.
He previously worked at the Eugene 4J School District as a network specialist and programmer analyst. |

Greg Hopper-Moore, Research and Development Coordinator
Greg Hopper-Moore received his M.Ed in education from the University of Oregon and holds a teaching license in Oregon.
Prior to joining CASLS in 2004, Greg taught high school French.
He currently directs professional development programs at CASLS and presents frequently at regional and national conferences.
In addition to his position at CASLS, Greg serves as the executive director for the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages. |

Yukiko Ishikura, Japanese Education Specialist
Yukiko Ishikura earned her master's degree in international education.
She coordinated student services at SIT Graduate Institute in Vermont and served as international living learning community program coordinator at the University of Arkansas before joining CASLS in 2009.
Yuki now coordinates the Tamagawa Internship and Educational Studies program. |

Sachiko Kamioka, Assistant Director
Sachiko Kamioka holds an M.A. in Japanese pedagogy from the University of Oregon.
She has taught Japanese at both the high school and college levels in the U.S. and Japan.
Sachiko joined CASLS in 1998 as a graduate research assistant and returned in 2000 as a project coordinator, managing Japanese STAMP and Dynamic Activity Templates (DATs).
As assistant director, Sachiko manages the center's financial and human resources while coordinating Japanese and Korean projects.
She is also active in the Association of Teachers of Japanese in Oregon. |

Dee Dee Kintz, Grants and Contracts Technician
Dee Dee Kintz has over fifteen years' experience in bookkeeping and over seven years' experience in grants administration at the University of Oregon.
Before joining CASLS in 2005 to manage the multiple funding sources coming into the center, she served as a budget committee member for 28J Fern Ridge School District.
Dee Dee is active in the National Council for University Research Administrators and the Society for Research Administration. |

Mandy Lindgren, Grants and Communications Specialist
Mandy Lindgren received a B.A. in English with a specialization in folklore from the University of Oregon.
She started at CASLS in 2003 as a student employee and served as office manager for over four years.
She now manages external communication and grant proposal processes.
Mandy also serves as the publications director for the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages. |

Scott Mattoon, Roadmap Outreach Coordinator
Scott Mattoon received his M.A. in French literature from the University of California.
Prior to moving to the Eugene area and joining CASLS, Scott chaired the language department at Choate Rosemary Hall where he also taught French and English.
His students generated the highest French AP test scores in the school's history with 80% of students scoring 5 and the remainder achieving 4.
He also taught French and English at the Collegiate School in New York. |

Scott Morison, Educational Software Programmer
Scott Morison received his B.A. in computer science from the University of Redlands.
He holds certifications in Oracle database modeling and relational database design, windows NT administration, and J2EE programming.
Scott has over fifteen years' programming experience.
Prior to working at CASLS, he served as the senior applications specialist for Symantec Corporation.
He now works with the technology team to develop tools for language education. |

Krystal Sundstrom, Online Learning Specialist
Krystal Sundstrom holds an M.S. in educational leadership with a specialization in educational assessment from the University of Oregon, and she holds teaching licenses in both Oregon and California.
She joined CASLS staff in 2007.
As CASLS' test developer, she managed the item development process for STAMP in Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, and Persian in addition to developing test items.
She now coordinates the development of LinguaFolio Online.
Krystal is a regular presenter on CASLS' formative and summative assessment tools at regional and national conferences. |

Yifang Zhang, East Asia Initiatives Coordinator
Yifang Zhang earned her M.A. in language pedagogy from the University of Oregon.
Yifang first joined CASLS in 2004 as a graduate research assistant before accepting a position as an education specialist for the UO Chinese Flagship Program operated by CASLS.
After a brief break, she returned to the center to coordinate a program that allows students from Soochow University to gain teaching experience by working with master teachers in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. |
