Apply early to UO Admissions
Students are required to submit a separate application for undergraduate admission to the University of Oregon Office of Admissions. All UO application requirements are available online.
Scholarship and Grants
Submit applicable Merit and Need-Based scholarships listed on the UO Financial Aid website. Application timeline:
English and Chinese essays (in clear, well-organized language): Mandarin Chinese essay (1000 -1500 characters) Statement of Purpose Explain how you developed your current Chinese skills, or current interest in Mandarin. Why do you want to study Mandarin, and how does it relate to your academic or personal goals? How do you think the UO Chinese Flagship Program will help you achieve these goals.
English essay (500-1000 words): Indicate which essay you have chosen
Share a significant experience, achievement, or risk you have taken and its impact on you.
Discuss an issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you and others.
Academic transcript (copy of most recent high school or college/university)
Flagship Scholars Funding ¨C All program applications will be considered for merit-based UO Flagship scholarships. The award process is competitive and requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.
Chinese International House Application
All students interested in living in the Flagship language dorm must submit their own online UO Housing application requesting placement in the International House. Although Flagship works with the Housing Office to place students in the Chinese Flagship wing of the international House, Housing cannot give preference over applicants who submitted their applications earlier. Housing will make the final placement decision based on application date, student interest, and roommate personality preference statements.
