Program Scholarship Support
The UO Chinese Language Flagship program offers Merit-based scholarships of up to $5,000 (on-campus) and $10,000 (study abroad) to highly qualified applicants. Students must be U.S. citizenship or have U.S. permanent residency. The Chinese Language Flagship is an honors-level program. Renewal of the scholarship is awarded annually and dependent on federal funding and student progress. The Flagship scholarship is made possible through the National Security Education Program (NSEP), the University of Oregon, and other generous donors committed to developing highly-skilled Americans with superior fluency in Mandarin.
The University of Oregon awards qualified Flagship scholars an annual $2,000 UO Flagship Dean¡¯s scholarship. Other Merit and Need-Based scholarships and a full breakdown of the current Cost of Attendance are referenced on the UO Financial Aid website.
One hidden tuition cost savings for out-of-state students is the relatively unknown fact that the UO does not charge study abroad students out-of-state tuition rates. Thus study abroad credit transfer is charged at the in-state rate.
