III. VISUAL AIDS FOR TEACHERS

1.  Form groups of three. Each group will be assigned either A or B. In groups, discuss how you can effectively defend your side.

A: Your school district is thinking about adopting a school uniform and wants to know your opinion. Prepare an argument for adopting school uniforms. Make sure you state all the positive aspects that your new school uniforms might bring to your school life, along with all the negative aspects of casual individual fashions.

2. Debate

  1. Split your group into one person and two people. One person will match up with a group of two who are on the opposite side, and vice versa.

  2. Assign one member from groups of two a facilitator of a debate. The rest of the members will debate. The facilitator will decide which side wins the debate.

B: Your school district is thinking about adopting school uniforms and want to know your opinion. Prepare an argument against adopting school uniforms. Make sure you state all the positive aspects of wearing own clothes to school along with negative aspects that school uniforms might bring to your school life.

    Sample:

    Facilitator: 制服についてどう思いますか。

    For:
    いいと思います。制服があると、ファッションのことを考えなくていいからです。ファッションのことを考えると勉強ができません。

    Against:
