Talk about pros and cons about wearing own clothes to school

I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS

Teacher Instructions

  1. Before class prepare the handout and the transparency of the activities.

  2. Show Transparency 1 to the class and present the content. Distribute the handout and have the students do Activity 1 in pairs. Walk around and give corrections on students’ writing.

  3. Have the students do a mingling activity (Activity 2).

  4. Ask the class to list some positive aspects. Write them down on Transparency 2. Do the same for the negative aspects.

  5. Ask the class to pick the most positive aspect and the most negative aspect. For each aspect on the transparency, call on students for responses. Write the results on the transparency.

II. STUDENT ACTIVITY HANDOUTS

1. In pairs, compare your school fashions to Japanese high school uniforms and comment on both the positive and negative aspects. Write at least three for each.
