Teacher Instructions

Step 1.	Before class prepare a handout.
Step 2.	Distribute the activity to each student and read over the directions.
Step 3.	Allow students time to research the different areas on their map.
Step 4.	Have students present their projects to each other in small groups.

Suggestions

Use this activity as an assessment.

Instead of preparing a presentation for all the professional groups mentioned, students could pick one group and target their presentation to their interests.

¡Bienvenidos a Oregon!

Several groups of Mexican visitors are coming to your town/city, and your Spanish class would like to welcome them and give them an introduction to the state:

artists
businessmen
doctors
factory workers
farmers
teachers

Prepare a presentation using the following guidelines.

Prepare a map of your state to use during your presentation.

Describe the main regions of the state, using the regional map provided. Label one place in each region you think would be interesting to each group of visitors and defend your choices. Include information on the character and climate of each region.
Compare your state/region to other states/regions.
Tell the groups about the main kinds of economic activity that are in your state that may be of interest to them.
Include a list of at least eight questions about Mexico that you will ask the groups about the topics above.
