Intensive High School Swahili Program
The College Readiness Academy offered an intensive high school Swahili program with a face-to-face summer program followed by an optional online learning program. Students worked toward language and culture proficiency while earning high school language credit.
Students attended a two-week intensive program at the University of Oregon during the summer. They enrolled in language classes, explored Swahili language and culture through community events, and lived together in the university residence halls. In addition to providing high-quality language and culture instruction, the College Readiness Academy included college counseling and financial aid sessions.
After the intensive summer session, students could continue their studies for an additional semester. The online program helped students build upon and document their language learning, which is essential to lifelong learning.
